Start Talking To Strangers, Good Advice for Affiliate Summit Attendees

Author: admin  //  Category: You Just Never Know, affiliate marketing, learning, social networking

:-)

I am in charge of the Mentor Program for Affiliate Summit, and I have given so much thought about advice I could give to new attendees, not that I am an authority, by all means. I came across an article in a magazine I subscribe to - Women for Hire. Tory Johnson Founder and Ceo of Women for Hire wrote an article about attending industry functions. It was a very good article that made me really think about networking and the whole idea of “You Just Never Know”.

The article is found in Women for Hire Volume XI, entitled “Start Talking to Strangers”.

This article made a lot of sense and it is good advice even for people who have been to industry events several times. Sometimes we get with a group of people, usually those we know and are glad to see, that we forget there are so many people who might make a difference in our life, if we just take the time to talk to them and introduce ourselves.

Maybe we should set our goals at meeting an “X” amount of people. You just never know who you might meet and how they will affect your business or life.

I have been helping Affiliate Summit organize the Mentor program. I appreciate Shawn and Missy giving me the opportunity. I have met some really great people through this process. There are so many people excited about the program and so many who are awesome about volunteering to be a Mentor. There have been several of these Mentors make post on their sites about the program. Thanks to each of you for the mention. Here are just a few of the posts.

Author: admin  //  Category: You Just Never Know, about me

Okay it is only a little over 2 weeks before the Affiliate Summit, and I have been sitting in front of this computer several hours a day and even several hours during the middle of the night hours.  I hope my Ass isn’t getting fatter.  I feel like I need to get some excercise.  I am going to be religious about working out I especially love to do tae bo  Close-out prices you’re going to love… Billy Blanks products at the lowest prices!

I also need to get a pedicure and my nails done !  I need to get my hair colored, yeah my roots are showing.  Tell me why hair grows so fast at the top, but it doesn’t seem to be getting any longer…..hmmmm could be all the styling tools we use and ratting it, and hairspray….Oh my,

OMG I need to figure out what I am going to wear,   Oh boy I get to go shopping !!!  Maybe even get a massage.  Thank you Affiliate Summit, for giving me a reason to do all these girlie things.

Is it humid in Boston?  I bet it is, that means my hair will be flat, maybe I need to go buy some of those hair extensions and add ons for an easy up do and maybe I can have many hair styles….

Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells, Jingle all the way, oh what fun it is to get ready for a trade show, I’m on my way !

Do We Ever Grow Up?

Pussy Cat Dolls "When I Grow Up"

Food for thought.  Do we ever grow up?  As I was listening to a podcast from one of my favorite Internet Marketers, Sam Harrelson.  He asked the age old question, “What do (did) you want to be when you grow up?.

I think so much about life, and what we are all about and what we are supposed to be doing. I know that I have done what I was meant to do in my life, but life changes each and everyday, so we change with it. I loved art, was on my way to being a graphic designer, but decided to get married to my husband of 26 years now, and I have 3 of the best kids in the world. I love my life, but life changes, Even though I am at the end of the phase of raising my children, I still feel like I did when I was a young college student. I want to continue with my dreams.

I am so glad I live in the day of the Internet. I absolutely love the Internet. It amazes me. I don’t think I will ever get tired of wanting to learn what it is all about. I am not sure if Affiliate Marketing is exactly what I want to do, but I want to give it a try. I am glad I am not one of those women who just accept being older. I hate the fact that I am older, but I feel as young as I always have in my heart and desires to be successful.

I have been successful in raising a family, loving my husband, and I know how much family means. Now the path is different and I am excited about so many possibilities that are available.

I don’t want to go into anything with blind faith, I want to question why, and possibly what this means in the whole picture of life.

I still don’t know what I want to do when I grow up. I guess the question is “Do we ever grow up”?

Hmmmmmmm Maybe I would like to be a Pussy Cat Doll, they are pretty hot looking.  lol, that will never happen.
