I have a confession: “I have Iddi Biddi Tiddies”
Author: admin // Category: You Just Never Know, about meKevin Bruce Brown and his brother Dwight Collin Brown invented “TIDDIES” in 1973 (I think you might describe them as surfer dudes) They made them in a warehouse in Pasadena Texas that became famous in the Houston area. By 1977 the business was a success. I believe the story goes the Brown Brother’s father was a Doctor therefore they used surgical tubing to hold on the soft foam soles. Whenever one of the Brown Brothers, friends tried on the sandals, he said something like, “Hey Dude these are as soft as walking on Tiddies”! As a light bulb in the head on the Brown Brothers, clicked. They did a rough stamp of women’s “Tiddies”, and there the branding was created. They not only were different, they were a sign of the times, a little on the rebellious, wanting to shock theme, that the 70’s are known for. (Really I think every generation and decade is just as rebellious as the one before). I loved my “Tiddies” and was so glad to rediscover them around 2003-2004, as I sold them in my retail store. They had “Tough Tiddies” made out of more traditional sole material not so spongy, they had two layers, and the “way soft”, three layer sandals, and for the young ones, they had the “Iddi Biddi Tiddies”. When I started selling them in my retail store I also ordered some of these special “Tiddie” Koozies. Who doesn’t want to wrap their hand around a soft “Tiddie” drink holder, especially when it has your favorite beverage in it. I had so much fun selling “Tiddies” in my store, I mean, hey you can send someone “Tiddies” tied to a balloon for Valentines day, you can give the Senior a pair of “Tiddies” for graduation, they are perfect to wear to the public shower area in the dorms. Just make sure you get your “Tiddies” the right size so you don’t trip on your “Tiddies”. So many, many funny saying you could come up with when selling “Tiddies”. I believe before I had to close my store in 2005 (Economy Sucked), the school had made it part of the dress code that the kids couldn’t wear “Tiddies” to school.
This is just a fun story I wanted to share with all of you. I still have a few of the “Tiddies” left that I list on Ebay sometimes. Most of them are the “Iddi Biddi Tiddies” for children but I do have a few of the “Tiddie” Koozies left which I will be sending to some of my favorite people in the world. The Koozies have the logo of my old store on there, but, hey, it still works. It is kind of like an old tatoo, “Sorry can’t remove it, it will have to stay on the Tiddie”. Doesn’t stop the functionality, or charm of the “Tiddie” Koozie. Enjoy!
Oh by the way if you have any need for “Iddi Biddi Tiddies”, email me, I will see if I have your childs size. I do believe a have a very few adult sizes left in small which would fit a man’s size 5-6 or women’s size 5-7. The surgical tubing is adjustable so it’s easy to make the “Tiddies” just tight enough. (I have so much fun with that word) The “Iddi Biddi Tiddies” (kids size) sizes that I have are Medium up to 6 ¼ inches, Large up to 6 ¾ inches, and XL up to 7 ½ inches. Most of the “Tiddies” come in the Tie-Died multi colors, On the adult size small I probably have some of the solid Red, Black, or Tie-Died, some are 2 layer, some are 3 layer. On the “Iddi Biddi Tiddies”, they are all Tie-Died and only two layers.
Hit me up and ask me about my Tiddies !
