PROCEED AND BE BOLD!

November 6, 2009 - 10:25 pm 1 Comment

Yesterday I went with my daughter to the art school at Texas Tech, and listened to a speaker, Amos Paul Kennedy Jr., a printer who specialized in Print Press Posters.  There was a documentary done about Mr. Kennedy, and the name of the documentary was “Proceed and be Bold”.

Listening to Mr. Kennedy, was so inspirational to me.  Mr. Kennedy has not always been a printer, he worked in the corporate world for several years.  He has been making prints for the past 7 years in a small town in Georgia.

One thing that really hit home to me, is he said you don’t have to be in a big city like New York to be a successful artist.  You can create your art where ever you are.  Since I am also from a very small town, this made me realize that the possibilities of being a successful artist isn’t out of my reach.

I have been wanting to get back into creating art,  The poster, and the documentary about Mr. Kennedy, has given the inspiration I need to “Proceed and be Bold”.

Not only did Mr. Kennedy inspire me, but he made me think a lot about life.  I really liked his philosophy about life.  When he spoke about thinking outside the box, he gave some examples of maybe thinking what your favorite song would look like as a poster.  Maybe not necessarily just putting the words on there totally, but making an art piece out of it.

I have always heard the statement “Think outside the box” but I never really knew how to do it.  Mr. Kennedy gave us several examples that made me realize what all can be done.

I just want to say :

“ǝɟı1 ʎɯ ǝbuɐɥɔ ǝɯ buıd1ǝɥ ǝ1qıssod puɐ sǝʎǝ ʎɯ buıuǝdo” ɹoɟ ʎpǝuuǝʞ .ɹɯ noʎ ʞuɐɥʇ

How To Be Creative While Going Insane

June 18, 2009 - 10:37 pm 4 Comments

Does Depression Spark Creativity, or Do Creative People Escape in Their Art, to Escape Their Depression?

I consider myself an artist, a creative person, yet the same emotions that make me so passionate about art, seem to make me so deeply bothered by the challenges in life.  I am a deeply sensitive person, and I take things to heart.  Maybe it is like when I create, I don’t exist outside of the moment of creating, but when I worry, it seems like it consumes my every thought.

Well All I know is that I am going “Insane” because of a certain situation in my life, it is like all
I can think about.  I need to escape into my creativity to blow off the anxiety and stress this situation has created.  I have gone to the Art store and bought canvas, paints, brushes, jewelry making supplies, and airbrush paints, tee shirts to paint on and much more.  I have enjoyed creating art you can wear, and art you can hang on your wall.  I just enjoy creating.  Art is very therapeutic.

So wish me luck as “I therapeutically unzip my creativity and find a way to happiness”

SHOP FOR PASSION, I DID AND IT IS SO SATISFYING

;-)

Yes I Said Passion !

Passion: a strong or extravagant fondness, enthusiasm, or desire for anything.

I went shopping yesterday and bought myself something that really excites me. I can get lost in this and it takes me to a different place in my imagination. I can escape everything else and totally get creative.

Most women, when they go shopping, get excited about a new pair of shoes, a new dress, or piece of jewelry to accessorize their outfit. Well not for me, at least not yesterday. I was not in the mood to go to the mall and shop for these things, I was in the mood to buy something that fulfills my deepest desire. I went to the store that specializes in my passion and now I am ready to get creative. Below is a picture of what I bought.

The thing about these colored pencils, is that they are so smooth when you use them, they blend very well and make an excellent tool for sketching. You can actually purchase these products and products like them at ArtCity, Inc.
